Luis Suarez was not Barcelona's first choice

Barcelona only signed Luis Suarez because they failed to sign their first choice Premier League striker.

Former sporting director at the Nou Camp,Andoni Zubizarreta, revealed the Catalan giants had actually wanted to sign Sergio Aguero from Manchester City — but failed in their attempt.

Barca then focussed on bringing Suarez to the club, and settled on a deal worth £75million with Liverpool.
In the winter, we tried to sign Aguero. But it didn’t come off.

“We had a few options. Our first choice was not Suarez — he knows this," said Zubizarreta.
