Manchester United's Louis van Gaal pondering quitting at the end of THIS season

Louis van Gaal is, apparently, considering quitting as Manchester United manager at the end of the season despite having another year on his contract.

After coming in for repeated criticism for his brand of "boring" and "defensive" footballfrom commentators including former United midfielder Paul Scholes, the Dutchman is ready to throw the towel in. If, that is, we are to believe the latest report in the Mirror.

Despite the lack of quotes from Van Gaal himself, the club or anybody connected with the club, the report claims that his family want him to walk away from the high-pressure job after they have become increasingly concerned over the 64-year-old's health and wellbeing.

Should Van Gaal jump – or, indeed, be pushed – then the out-of-work Jose Mourinho would be installed as the favourite to accede the former Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Holland manager.
