United reject Guardiola talk

Pep
Manchester United have denied reports that they met Pep Guardiola in Paris last week amid reports in France they are planning to swoop for the former Barca boss.

French broadcast journalist Thierry Marchand made the astounding claims on television show L’Equipe du Soir that the Old Trafford club have not yet given up hope of stealing the Bayern Munich boss from under the noses of cross-town rivalsManchester City.

The meeting was claimed to have taken place at the Hotel Bristol on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore with senior United figures - but the Old Trafford club deny this is the case.

MirrorSport exclusively revealed earlier this week that Louis van Gaal could walk away from the United job at the end of the campaign, a year before the end of his contract, with family members keen for him to step down amid increasing pressure.  Jose Mourinho remains the front runner for the job.
