Slaven Bilic is close to completing a loan deal for Nigerian striker Emmanuel Emenike this month.

West Ham have offloaded Mauro Zarate to Serie A club Fiorentina, freeing up a place in their squad for the 28-year-old Fenerbahce hitman Emenike, who is currently on loan at Abu Dhabi club Al Ain.

When boss Bilic managed Turkish side Besiktas, Emenike played for their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce; and when the Croat was in charge of Lokomotiv Moscow, the Nigeria international was at crosstown rivals Spartak.

Bilic said: “There is a new situation with a couple of our players might leave the club and if that happens then we are going to try to get one in - and Emenike is one of them (we’re looking at). But is not a done deal.
“Of course he is a good player. He is one of the players we have been linked with and we will see.”
